Senior Center Food Drive

Temecula Valley People Helping People is a wonderful charity!!

They have done so much for the community where I live. We are a group of seniors, many who are disabled and all of us low income.

Last December we made a plea for help with food for the holidays for six families. They came the very next day with a large box of food for all six families.

This month they arrived with the Marines in a caravan bringing fruit and vegetables, paper goods, canned good, frozen food and everything else you can think of. Lots of dairy and bread products were so happily received.

I cannot tell you what this delivery meant to us. It meant eating and eating a healthy balanced meal for this month and next month. It meant a wife could feed her sick husband a great meal and keep up her health.

It meant sleeping not worrying about tomorrow at least for a few weeks knowing that there was food to eat. This is a big worry for many of our residents.

This wonderful organization has many teams. They have a team called the Obama team. They worked on our President's election. After the election they were ready to disband and they were told instead to go out in the community and make a difference. They chose this wonderful organization.

This team came with a bag of household supplies /personal care items for each family. They brought brand new clothes that were snatched up instantly by happy women and men.

Other members of this organization called and brought special items for us. They are searching for a piano for our clubhouse. If you have one to donate please email them at tvphp@verizon.net .

Also contact them to make donations of food, gift cards, clothing, books or other items they may be seeking.

I am signing up to be part of their Obama team. There are lots of other teams and needs within this great organization. Go to their website and see their wonderful work. Look at the photos of them delivering food to our community. It was really something. It sparked a great unity in the people, they all worked together within the community to make sure no one got left out and every family received food and other items to meet their needs.

I cannot say enough about this organization. If you give to one charity this year let it be this one. Your time, your money, your skills, your connections, your goods are all needed by Temecula Valley People helping People. We are a nation with abundance in these hard times. All we need are the distribution channels to get what is there to the people who need it. This organization has the skill, the people, the organization and the drive to get what is most needed to those that need.
